Rich Call Data (RCD)
RCD (Rich Call Data) is a feature that enhances caller ID by providing additional information, such as the caller's name, logo, and photo, to the person being called. This helps increase the likelihood of the call being answered. RCD is managed by the calling party or enterprise and their originating service provider, giving them greater control over the presentation of their brand. It is also part of the STIR/SHAKEN framework, which uses PKI to digitally sign the caller information, making it more accurate and trustworthy. However, it is important to note that RCD requires STIR/SHAKEN to be used and will not work if the call is not authenticated and verified.
Businesses may not currently be able to use RCD, as phone manufacturers are still working on implementing it. It may take several more years for there to be a significant number of RCD-enabled phones available to consumers. However, there are alternative solutions available now for businesses to deliver their contact and branding information to mobile devices during calls

"Businesses may not currently be able to use RCD, as phone manufacturers are still working on implementing it. It may take several more years for there to be a significant number of RCD-enabled phones available to consumers. However, there are alternative solutions available now for businesses to deliver their contact and branding information to mobile devices during calls. Industry leaders, such as First Orion, have completed a successful proof-of-concept for RCD calling, indicating that a standardized caller identification service may be available in the near future (2-5 years). In the meantime, First Orion offers solutions that organizations can use to deliver branded phone calls to their customers."
